Location

Idukki district being the core plantation sector of the state (cardamom, pepper, coffee, tea, vanilla and similar other commercial crops) there is a large concentration of farm labourers. Major chunk of the workforce is a Tamil migrant lacking in education and socio-economic development. Pulianmala where Navadarsanagram is situated just 22 kms away from the International Tourist Centre, Thekkady bordering Tamil Nadu. The Centre is reachable within a couple of hours from any part of the Idukki and Theni districts. Idukki district is notorious for clandestine ganja cultivation and adjacent Thekkady and Kumily towns are the potential drug trading and sale outlets. A sizable number of foreign and national tourists and pleasure seeking youths are the clientele of these trades. They fall easy prey to substance abuse. Therefore Puliyanmala is chosen as the ideal location for the De-addiction centre. There are no other such parallel organizations (NGOs) nor any other governmental agencies working in this Idukki District of Idukki.

While addiction treatment, rehabilitation, follows ups, conscientization and relapse prevention programmes are the main thrust of our activity, special emphasis is also given to build healthy family bonds. In order to keep the family alive and awake against the social evils, we conduct various conscientization programmes throughout the District.
